TMJ Dysfunction – Stand for Temporalmandibular joint dysfunction, or know as the jaw joints. Causes can include both physical (trauma or having teeth removed) and emotional (teeth grinding related to stress). Signs associated with TMJ dysfunction include, limited opening ( lock jaw) tightness, pain, joint restriction, difficulty breastfeeding in infants and headaches.
Treatment usually involved muscle release work on the muscles both inside and outside the jaw, dry needling to also release the muscles and gentle joint mobilisations and adjustments. Home exercises are also important.
Massage Therapy.
There are some very specific and very effective massage techniques that have a great impact on jaw pain and problems. Remedial massage can help with jaw pain, lock jaw, headaches and bite problems.
